AA to the rescue again. 

An early start from Premier Inn then a stop at Starbucks on the A69 for coffee and the use of their facilities. All well to Carlisle and down the motorway to Penrith.  Although the car had misfired a few times we didn't worry. 

We were only a few miles off the motorway heading towards Keswick when there was a warning sound, the car lost power and a message said 'engine malfunction ..... service now'.

Fortunately we were passing a junction so I was able to reverse off the main road.  The car was towed home behind this AA vehicle. A strange experience for us sitting inside  (and me steering) but better than waiting another hour or so for a recovery truck. 

The fault is with injector 4. The bill for the one last year was astronomical.
