Life in Sunny Dubai

We had a really early start, having to deliver the Peugeot to the garage to have its catalytic converter and oxygen sensor changed. There was the chance to (finally) get to drive an ekar MG-MZ back, but G reckoned a taxi would be cheaper so we did that.

Well, the first driver we had had only been on the job for a week and didn't know our area of Dubai. We said we'd guide him, except he was on the phone to a friend and couldn't drive and take directions. At one point, he was heading full speed at a red light. It was only our alerting him that made him stop. G wanted to get out immediately, but he asked for another chance. We got out when he missed a turn and started to head in the complete opposite direction to where we wanted to go. After finding a safe place to pull over, we got out and caught another taxi. This driver was much more experienced but he tried to short change me as I left. Argh! He didn't get away with it.

I'm so glad I got all my jobs done yesterday. It's great to have a totally clear day off. The only thing we had planned was to take Pam for a photography trip to the new Al Seef development. That was planned for 5 pm.

Amazingly, the guys at Peugeot had the car ready well in time, so we were able to get there (another taxi ride), collect the car, and collect Pam. We had a great time going around taking pictures. It was humid and we got drenched but worth it was worth it.

Keventers was the outlet of choice for refreshment. I tried yet another milkshake - banana, pineapple and coconut! It was nice! I was way too tired when I got home to contemplate blipping, so posting this a day late.
