Exploring Guilin
After a rather filling breakfast, we headed out to see the Reed Flute Caves which the boys had spoken off.
They were quite spectacular and extensive (in extra) and the use of coloured lighting made it quite dramatic. I wasn't a huge fan of the coloured lighting, but I can appreciate that the Chinese probably really like it.
Our taxi driver then decided that she wanted to take us to another tourist attraction, to the Yaoshan (Yao mountain) scenic lookout, which was a really cool spot. A 15 minute cable car ride up to see amazing 360 views of Guilin. The limestone hills/mountains around Guilin are extensive and so unique. Here's some info about them if you have time to read about Guilin mountains.
We were so grateful for the taxi driver suggesting this as it didn't feature on the usual touristy things to do!
She waited for us both at the Caves and the lookout. Sweet thing.
By 5pm, we'd had about enough for the day and headed back to the hotel for a light dinner and rest.
Martin really needed to get away and get some rest and I was grateful that he obliged and came along to sight-see with me.
