Pete's
Fairview #3 (one street project)
Thank God for Pete's! This little grocery/wineshop is about 2 blocks away on my one street, Fairview. It's been a grocery shop for over 40 years but the present owner bought it in 1974 and turned it into the "House of Wines" it is today. People come from all over the city and state (and even Vancouver BC) to get the best prices and variety. (It's our wine cellar, as I blipped 2 years ago HERE. ) But they also sell milk and bread and regular stuff including produce (not much organic however) and deli items so when we come home from a trip and I just can't face a trip to a supermarket (which we don't have in this Eastlake neighborhood), it's a walk down to Pete's! We were expecting to pick up the girls for our regular monday and I needed supplies for pancakes! along with other stuff for us. But the girls have the flu so we got some much needed "catch up" time at home! :-)
I did this view so you could appreciate the "country lane" aspect of this city street with no sidewalks in this part, small houses on the left, floating homes, a pocket park, and Lake Union on the right. In the spring and fall, these trees are ablaze with color (I do believe there are buds on that tree on Jan 7!) This stretch of neighborhood "Green Street" (classified by the city for it's leafy strolling properties) does need some attention to provide walkers, bikes, traffic and parking to coexist safely, and fix some drainage issues. So with new guidelines looming at the city level that could wreck the whole feel, the neighborhood is undergoing a process for new graphic design for this Green Street. (It will be something to document, as well as the seasons which look so different right here.)
I love my neighborhood!
