The colours of autumn - again!
Going to the theatre last night was a real treat - other than trips to the supermarket and (admittedly very enjoyable) walks in the woods with Xena, I have not done much else lately. Master Harold and the Boys is a powerful play set in the apartheid era of the 1950's in South Africa, and it is not hard to see why it is an award winning play. Brilliant acting, particularly by Lucian Msmati in the role made famous by John Kani. The young actor playing Harold was also very convincing even if his South African accent wasn't! Having lived there through apartheid it was more poignant for Gavin and I, but nevertheless the audience seemed to really enjoy it and they got a standing ovation from the audience at the end of the play. I can highly recommend it. We also appreciated that it was 1 hour 40 minutes with no interval and we were back home again from London by 10pm.
Another day of mixed weather - we managed to have another dry walk in the woods. Xena really blends into the autumn colours, they seem to suit her! Murdoch, having a salt n' pepper coat of thick texture, was ideal for black and white photography but I have quickly realised that Xena is not the best model for mono photography. She does come into her own in autumn though!
I was hoping to go photograph the stags this afternoon, but it started raining heavily so instead I started working on another photo book. Maybe later this week I will find time to get up to Bushy Park to see them.
One of the owners of the cafe where Thomas works is called James. As Thomas was leaving after his shift the other day, he saw him having a coffee in the cafe so he went up to him and said how much he was enjoying working there. When he said goodbye, he made a joke by saying - see you tomorrow, and hopefully this time I will be fully clothed - as last time he saw him, Thomas was in the back office changing into his uniform. He later discovered, on the cafe's Instagram account, that he had mistaken the owner James for Jamie Redknapp who is a regular in there! Oops...he was feeling very embarrassed about it but Jamie did not show any surprise at this total stranger coming up to him, calling him James and talking about being fully clothed!!
