What? How? Why?
A very busy day, biennial sight test, a visit to Another weigh (Penrith's packaging free shop) then drop off things on one of Clickychick's clients. A quick visit to the studio, then lunch at Rheged. After lunch back into town as CC had arranged a hair appointment on the spur of the moment.
This meant by the time we were home and thinking about blip the day was getting on. wander in round the garden I was thinking of signs of autumn, the usual berries etc. Then I noticed this leaf, if it hadn't been attached to a plant I would have thought it was a skeleton leaf.
Looking further down the plant I spotted the culprits (see extra). Sawfly are fairly inconspicuous flies and unusually they are parthenogenic. This means the females are able to produce young without mating. The various species are native to the northern hemisphere but are invasive and being found in parts of the southern hemisphere.
