Chihuly
Today we are still in Seattle, so we had tickets booked to go up the Space Needle and then visit Chihuly Gardens and Glass. The Space Needle was good and we'd gone along for opening time, so we got plenty of good views. After that, we literally nipped next door to Chihuly Gardens and Glass. This place is amazing. It's full of hand-blown glass sculptures of all shapes, sizes and colours. Absolutely stunning, full of colour, great displays and really imaginative works, all set up in such a beautiful way to show off the colours and designs. This photo gets a bit of both our trips - the ceiling display in the 'Greenhouse' where Dale Chihuly's work hangs from the ceiling - as opposed to greenhouses being filled from the floor, up, this was the opposite. The glass sculpture hangs overhead, catching the light from the wide open glass surroundings. Outside, looming above the greenhouse, you can also see the Space Needle. After those two visits we stayed on this site and went to MoPop - the museum of pop culture. Lots of exhibits in there from Prince, to Nirvana, Pearl Jam etc. There was a movie section with items from blockbuster films and TV programmes, like Mork & Mindy, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Nightmare on Elm Street, Dr. Who, Alien, Terminator, Star Trek etc etc Altogether a great day out.
