Deja Vu

I knew something was brewing when my floor grout appeared to be dissolving and crumbling before my own eyes......

Over the last couple of weeks it dawned on me that there was a problem, and the day of the Shine Walk, a guy came out to look. Sure enough, behind the toilet was a small drip that has likely gotten under my beautiful and only four-year old floor. New Floor

He gave me a huge quote and thought the tiles would probably have to come off, and I went off to talk to the insurance company. Ten days have passed and I've not been able to get hold of him, and also felt more and more worried that it would still be leaking!

Last night I had a brainwave, and looked up Peter, the tiler who laid the floor to see if he was still working. I called him and he offered to come out today to investigate. He did such a great job it was a no-brainer for him to sort it out. I came home from work early, and he took the toilet off, and lo and behold, the white plastic pipe looks like someone has taken a knife and cut it in two....

Together we made a plan, and after disposing of the pipe and thus stopping the leak, he said the best thing to do was to leave in a week or two to dry out, and then he'll come back and hopefully just scrape out the grout and re-do it. Hopefully he won't have to re-do the whole floor as that would be a much more expensive job. He did suggest getting a new toilet, and I figure I may as well seeing that it's full of limescale.

I think maybe I should just move.....
