Apples and brambles

I understand that many of you call these things blackberries, but I grew up with the term, 'brambles.' Every year I tell myself I must pick some, so today, I did. It was hard work finding good berries, it doesn't seem to have been a vintage year, especially compared to last year. I got some, plus some nettle stings and scratches, and I will make a bramble and apple crumble when I feel up to it.
