CThrough the archway

A bright sunny day but with a cold breeze.
We dressed in winter woollies, and visited Chiddingstone Castle.

This was the home from 1955 until his death in 1977 of Denys Eyre Bower, bought to house his collections, which he bequeathed to the nation. Today it is a museum and the gallery of Japanese collections, including Samauri warrior uniforms and lacquer artefacts was outstanding.

There are 36acres of grounds with a big lake and a footpath leading over a bridge to the National Trust Village of Chiddingstone. The houses, shops and pub date back to 1600s. Unfortunately all the parked cars in front of the buildings spoiled any possible photos.

We had a light lunch in the castle's genuine vintage tearoom where people braved the cold and sat outdoors in the sunshine. Not us , I hasten to add.

It was a very enjoyable day out, and I did more walking today than previously done. I know that tomorrow the chemo will kick in and I wont be doing much over the next week.
