Lombard Street

San Francisco.  We left our hotel early as we wanted to get to Lombard Street before the traffic (and other tourists) got there.  This is the 'crooked street; - it zig-zags from left to right all the way down, then the street carries on into the distance as you can see.  This part of the hill is lush with beautiful flowers, bushes and palm trees - a far cry from the downtown city-scape at the other end.  This part of Lombard Street is only about half-way along, so if you can imagine that road ahead also being the same behind where I was standing.  Quite literally from one end of the city to the other.  Our hotel is on this street but you've no idea of distance just looking at a map...or the hills to climb...but the views were amazing, especially when the sun was rising as today.
