Smiley Fish Guy

I'm a bit paranoid about bringing my camera into work, so most of my pictures are just going to be poor quality mobile phone pictures, I'm afraid.

Anyway, the fish started laying eggs today, although it seems that there are no males in the tank to fertilise them. Instead, the fish have started eating their own eggs - surely a counterintuitive evolutionary habit, non?

Perhaps they are self-conscious and trying to end the cycle of entrapment and suffering.

Either way, it made me think - a lot of life seems to survive based on sheer brute force.
