Lucerne: an autumn escapade (Backblip 1)
Going away for a few days is always a wonderful treat, especially when the weather forecast is great and we prolonged our stay by an extra day!
Lucerne, in the German-speaking part of Switzerland is the first place I lived in when I came to Switzerland. It's a very beautiful town full of history and beautiful old architecture. It has the added advantage of being on the Vierwaldstättersee (meaning lake of the four forested settlements. It's the fourth largest town in Switzerland and is surrounded by beautiful mountains, the lovely lake, with four different branches, and the River Reuss running through the town.
This photo shows the lovely buildings on one side of the river with the famous Kapellbrücke (Chapel Bridge).
There is so much to see in this beautiful town. So much culture too. The old part of the town is especially beautiful.
