Coniston Water
We went for a walk at Coniston Water today. I didn't realise quite what an interesting lake it is. Lots of interesting facts, the novel Swallows and Amazons was inspired by this location and Donald Campbell died here on 4 Jan 1972 trying to beat the water speed record, which apparently was initially set by his father Sir Malcolm in 1939. It's my birthday today an have had a lovely time, despite the weather, we had an amazing dinner at Pronto in Bowness on Windermere last night and tonight we went for Tapas. A great couple of days away, perfect end to our festive season. Thanks to J who engineered and funded the whole trip... And hello 43, I'm ready for you!
