Bush Stone Curlew.

This strange looking bird was protecting his mate, who was sitting, on a nest, just across the car park.

He gave me a funny sort of growling noise, as a warning as I walked past.

We used to have these at Sea World, in the car park too.  And they used to run around, a bit like the cartoon Roadrunner.
