Hanoi
Went to visit the famous Dong Quan market today, who knew there was so much tat in the world, and that it could all fit into such a small place. The Vietnamese have special bundling and stacking powers I think. Not sure about their electrical safety though, check out the post to the right of this picture, made me chuckle. Might not venture to the fried fish/seafood area again though, having enough problems trying to drum up an appetite. Unfortunately they didn’t have the one thing I was looking for, either electric toothbrushes have not made it to Vietnam yet or my sign language failed me.
The crossing of roads is a bit of an art here, have realised that traffic lights are rarely adhered to so green men are just a dangerous lure. Spent yesterday just waiting for a local to cross and then pretending to be a shadow but being an impatient sort have worked on it a bit today. Got to find the magical gaps in the ebbs and flows of bikes and remember that both sides of the road are equally viable options for drivers.
Persuaded myself that I must go and do some sightseeing, mainly because my hotel guy would be a bit disappointed with me so I braved
an 6 mile round trip on said roads to visit Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum only to be refused entry. I had nothing to cover my arms with and my ultralight minuscule towel would only do one shoulder at a time which wasn’t going to cut it. Not to worry, not really my thing anyway.
So tonight I am determined to go for some food, there are some disturbing sights though which are kind of putting me off but I will be brave tonight after I have done some googling on such things.
Enough rambling for today me thinks so going to check out now, have a good day everyone xx
