Getting There
It was a miserable day, cold, wet and windy. Hubby was laying the last few stones in the yard while I was swanning about in Vienna with my friends. Five of us caught the train to Vienna to visit some museums. The 2.5 hour train trip went very quickly as my friend's young nephew had brought a pack of cards with him to play Canasta during the trip. While the nephew and his father went off to the Military Museum the rest of us went to the Narrenturm (Fool's Tower), home to the largest museum of Anatomy and Pathology. The Narrenturm is a circular building built in 1784 which housed the mentally ill and people with physical disfigurement. I was lucky that they had an English tour; unfortunately no photos were allowed. It was fascinating but parts of the collection are only accessible with a tour and I would have liked to have a longer at the specimens. We had planned to take an early train back home with the others - we were travelling on the same ticket - so we had to meet up at the station. There is a very good restaurant near the station so we girls had lunch there. My wild duck breast was excellent. The boy wanted KFC, as they do, and there is none locally so we met up after our respective lunches. Another card game on the way home and I was home early enough to inspect Hubby's work before it got dark. He did well despite the lousy weather.
