Bear Essentials

After a very comfortable overnight stay in the lodges at Whipsnade zoo, we were up early for a very good breakfast and a then a walk around the park before the public opening at 10am. Amongst the animals we visited were the Brown Bears and we were able to get a bit closer than usual and do a bit of feeding too, beautiful animals. 

We reflected on our feelings about the zoo. Whipsnade is a huge site and whilst it's always upsetting to see animals in captivity, they have provisioned space for them over putting too many animals on the site. There is a massive focus on education and breeding, critical to try and ensure long term preservation of so many species.

We got home mid-afternoon before good friends Kate and Simon arrived. A lovely evening meal in a local pub followed, along with plenty of chat. A good day.
