Piano exam results etc

My daughter got her Grade 5 piano exam result today. She did really well and got a merit. However, she is a perfectionist and was utterly gutted not to get a distinction. She was more gutted to discover that she was only 3 marks short of the distinction.
Now this will drive her on to practice harder and longer and want to do so much better at her next exam, but it has been horrible trying to reassure her that a merit is a bloody good mark.
She did cheer up immensely when we decided to go to the local Chinese buffet place for tea as we were so proud of her achievement. Seems crispy duck pancakes are good in any situation :-)

Once we got back from dinner she was much happier and laughing away as she told the grandparents. So I think she has got over her initial disappointment and is altogether a happier bunny now!
