Saturday, October 5, Museum 't Fiskerhúske in Moddergat organizes a walking tour through the beautiful Noardeast Fryslán in honor of the hard-working fisher women of the past from Paesens-Moddergat and Wierum.

The fishermen's wives, the fishmasters, used to have to walk a mile-long hike with yoke and two baskets on the caught fish. Some women walked far behind Dokkum. The route to Dokkum is therefore not called for nothing; it Fiskerinsterpaad.

Walkers relive the exploration by walking part of the route, but without the yoke.(copied from RTV NOF regional news)
