The Ghost in the Glass House

We met our friends Liz and Genny at Calke Abbey, the National Trust property near Ashby-de-la-Zouch, today.  We started off in the cafe with a drink and chat then made our way to the restaurant for lunch. Unfortunately, everyone else had the same idea and there were no free tables so we decided to go for a walk first.

They have some lovely gardens a little way from the main house and we spent some time wandering there.  I took this photo in the glass house when I spotted the worn statue amongst the tropical leaves. I liked the shadows on the flaking wall (ideal for tomorrow's  Mono Monday but a day too early!).

It started raining a little and we made it back to the restaurant for a nice lunch and chat.
