Mine lamp

In 1952 a huge mine lamp illuminated the Vredeshofje in Kerkrade. But in 1953 the monument to the cow was gone without a trace. A dream came true in September 2019; a citizens' initiative had a new mine lamp made and placed it back in the Terwinselen district as a lasting reminder of the mines and miners.
Since then, the monument, connected to the public power grid, has appeared in the neighborhood again. It was also this year 50 years ago (1969) that the Wilhelmina Mine had to close its gates due to the increasing use of gas from Slochteren in Groningen
