Marginal

Avenida da Marginal is the name of the road that skirts the coast, a name which I think applies to the comparable thoroughfares in other cities in Angola and Portugal. In Maputo the Marginal is important for orientation and comes up a lot when chatting to friends about directions and arrangements.

It’s getting warmer as summer is approaching, so spending free days at the beach should become a more standard activity. I spent a few hours reading on a nice, calm stretch known as Costa do Sol fifteen minutes’ bus ride from the city centre.
