Culan
This morning we returned to the place where the reception was yesterday and everyone had breakfast and we said our farewells and got on the road to start our journey home.
It was a four hour journey today and that's OK but we were very tired from not having slept well last night. That meant a few stops were necessary to ensure I was not overcome by tiredness. We said goodbye to the pretty Beaujolais villages with their neat vineyards and headed up into the hills of the Auvergne. It began to rain before too long and continued on and off until we were nearly at Argenton sur Creuse. We have been here once before. It was probably about ten years ago when we had the big campervan, we camped half a mile or so up the river. We've always remembered how pretty it is with kingfishers and all sorts of birds along the river. We're staying a hotel in town this time and we've now been out to supper, meeting up with another couple who are at the hotel and we had an enjoyable meal sharing stories of our trips.
My blip today is of a Chateau we passed on the road. It's a place called Culan and it looks quite impressive, I'm sure you'll agree.
