Make Every Day Memorable

Monday Monsoons

A day of mixed fortunes.
Pete fancied a trip on The Jacobite train so while we got some provisions in Fort William, he went off to see if there had been any cancellations. He got lucky :-)
We then headed to Glenfinnan to see the train travel over the viaduct. There were cars and people everywhere but we found the last available parking spot.
Walking up to the viewpoint it started to rain.
Long before the time the train came into view, Carolyn and I were wondering if it was worth getting soaked for.
On to Mallaig where the sun miraculously came out as we met up with Pete.
Just enough time for a quick stroll around before the clouds were rolling in again.
On the drive back ‘home’ I have never experienced rain like it. The roads were flooded in parts.
Just 10 miles further along the sun came out again so I headed back up to Glen Etive with my trusty tripod carrier in tow.
Another 10 miles on and we were in another monsoon.
I gave up on any camera time so went to the Kings House Hotel for a cuppa instead.
There is a group of Red Deer which hang around the hotel. Of course they are being fed. Sad evidence of the consequences of this are on the nearby busy main road where two does lie dead.
As we left the heavens had opened again but one of the deer approached the car looking for food. I couldn’t resist snapping her but she quickly lost interest when she realised I had nothing for her.
