Bread and Circuses

It might not look like much, but Carmarthen has the remains of Imperial Rome's westernmost amphitheatre. I like to think of crowds gathered here, speaking a mix of Latin and Welsh and the many other languages of the Roman Empire, long before English came to the British Isles.
