Tête-à-Tate
I remember many moons ago seeing the most mind numbingly boring video installation in the Tate Modern. A car entering a tunnel, repeated ad nauseam. I felt very sorry for the poor bastard who was sentenced to protecting that masterpiece.
Today in our very own IMMA, I saw another video installation that was not mind numbingly boring. Nothing that is forbidden by the Geneva Convention can be described as boring. The Geneva Convention protects us from inhuman, destructive, nefarious or evil enterprises. The things the Geneva Convention was designed to protect us against are too scary to be boring.
The Geneva Convention did not however protect me against this video (bastards!!!)
It is called Purgatory* a new piece by your one who was in Sonic Youth in the noineties. Heap o' shoite. The concept must have seemed promising. The result is a mini hell in the aul eardrums with an extra layer of unpleasantness in the retinas.
On the plus side, now I can think of a place where I would like to lock up the Orange Monstrosity from the White House. For all eternity.
* Actually it isn't, but it should!
