Holding up the roof

Last year we had a false wall removed and two velux windows installed. This beam was found behind the wall and holds the roof up so could not be removed. The builder was looking for a way to rectify the problem we thought how lovely an exposed beam and varnished it.
My GP called me today to check I was OK after all the hospital trips, such wonderful service.
