Arishyama bamboo groves

In the West of the city there is a park in which a 600 year old bamboo grove can be found. That was our first port of call today, followed by the Zen Buddhist temple and gardens next door. After that, back into the centre to get a bus back out to the golden temple in the North of the city. Unfortunately, we arrived just add it closed after a bus journey of about an hour!! Hey ho.

Last night we went into the geisha district which was quite strange; both a bit dodgy feeling but highly correct at the same time! A few geisha were walking around, deeply bowing to other women they knew. Yet, at the same time, area felt like a red light district. Weird.
