Kelonia

Today, myself and my friend Brad went to Kélonia, a turtle sanctuary in the south-west of the Island which is well-known for rescuing and breeding turtles to help with the depleting populations around the island. There are several species of turtles that are found in the oceans around the island and there used to be a species of giant tortoise which was endemic to the island, before it because extinct as a result of humans inhabiting the island. They showed the amounts of plastic that they found in the stomachs of the turtles which had died there and there were shocking amounts of plastic found, including plastic cutlery, bottle lids and micro-beads. I was surprised by the fact that the restaurant next door gave me my meal with plastic cutlery.
