Today marks 150 years since the first tube journey in London. (or the world)
Farringdon station was at the heart of this historic moment with the new Metropolitan Railway line providing a direct link to Paddington. At the top of the building, in proud gold lettering, is the original signage, with the name "Farringdon and High Holborn" on the façade.
Today the tube system stretches 250 miles and carries nearly 4 million passengers every day. Love it or hate it, London would not be the same without it.
