Hare?s Foot Inkcap (Coprinus lagopus)

Read on - apparently this very tender little thing gets its name because the erupting young fungi looks just like a folded hare's foot. Link.
The light grey powdery look is created by the protective shroud that encases the fruit head as it pushes through the ground. The fungi were growing in recently spread wood chips near picnic tables, as in the attached link.
While collecting these we met a very interesting lady who is just getting interested in photography, macro work etc. She is off to Peru to take pictures of the food eaten by a vegetarian tribe. First time I've heard of vegetarian jungle dwellers, makes sense if you can't hunt to save your life.
