The end of the tunnel...

...is nowhere in sight.

Slow torture in the capital of Europe. Schuman railway/metro station upgrade is a never ending story. Schuman rail station is a rush hour commuter horror story. For years, it was left untouched by modernisation, slowly falling into a decrepit state that leaves those who travel through it without a soul, never mind hope.

Now for the last three or four years (feels like a lifetime) they have been working on the new multi-modal transport hub under the slowly emerging "Presidential egg" up top. They torture us by never actually finishing anything. One small part of the platform has been upgraded as though to say "you'll have to wait even longer for the rest to be finished, suffer, suffer"....

In winter, a cold wind whistles down the tunnel like station, in summer, a ray of sun never reaches into the deep recesses at the end of the station.

And to top it all, trains regularly break down on their way through the tunnel from north station or accumulate 15-30 minute delays....

We will overcome...
