Ailing Cabbage Tree

This cabbage tree makes me feel sad whenever I drive past it. I thought it was dead, but today I stopped to take a photo of it and found that it is still alive. Although most of the bark has fallen from the trunk there are a few clumps of green leaves at the top. I have no idea what has happened to the tree. The position is a good one.

NB  This is not an allegory. I, cabbagetree, am not ailing.
