Fly high my friend

Over to Nottingham today to say goodbye to one of B’s old friends. They were at RAF Halton as apprentices in the ‘60’s and were tennis partners. Their claim to fame is that they won the RAF Championships and played at Wimbledon. (Not ‘the’ Wimbledon, but on THE courts)

A very moving service at the crematorium, most appropriate and well attended. Eleven of the ‘Brats’ were in attendance to say their farewells and reminisce about old times. Also to show their support for his wife and family.

C has lived with a debilitating illness for the last 18 months and shown great strength and composure to the end.

Game set and match old friend, well played.
