Plant puzzles

First a fruit tree .. 3m high, 2m broad, green lumps like big plums, very slightly soft to the touch on the outside. Leaves rounded, in pairs, slightly furry.  One smaller windfall was dry, and hard enough to bounce not crack when dropped on concrete. 

In extra, purple flowering thing, nearly 2m high, climbing .. 

Anyone know what either of these are ? N California  location.
