Quality Mountain Day; a peculiar little phrase specific to the UK Mountain Leader Award.
"Peculiar how?" I hear you ask
Well there's a whole big long list of criteria , but basically it has to be challenging with some learning hopefully taking place. And that often means heading out on the days others don't want to, walking into the murk rather than away from it, looking for features everyone else would (sensibly) ignore.

Out today with A & S, they both got deferred on their Summer Mountain Leader assessments. So we spent a good while going back to basics, putting strategies together and (hopefully) creating a more rigorous systematic approach.
We also had a few laughs, dodged the rain and wandered about in the gloom. They knew where they were a significant amount of the time.

I hope they left with a few more tools in the kit than they arrived with, and sharpened the ones they brought. Tomorrow I'll send them a 'What to do next' development plan. The phrase qmd will no doubt feature heavily.
