Unpleasant Surprise

I’m pretty cool around spiders so I wasn’t bothered when a large black one took up residence on my bedroom ceiling. The ceiling is high and to deal with it would require bringing a ladder inside. However tonight as I was going to bed I found it on the head of my bed. I couldn’t have that. After quickly taking a photo of it I caught it in a bottle and, being too soft to chuck it out in the cold rain, I released it into another room. Too late I looked at the image on my camera and realised it was a whitetail! I haven’t seen one here in more than twenty years. They are known for delivering a painful bite without much provocation. And I have at least one adult female in my house. Has she been with a male lately?
