Our garden friend
What a joy it has been today to have bright sun shining down from a cloudless blue sky with the bonus of completely still air. Fabulous. I could feel the heat on my face which made me smile.
Before walking to town for my regular meeting with the Town Clerk to discuss the agenda for our next finance Committee meeting, I treated myself to a few minutes of watching with my camera in the garden.
Bomble woke up early and took the opportunity of exiting from our bedroom through the window and down onto a roof before stretching himself and then watching out from the roof of the neighbour's shed. He probably had heard the chattering of the birds in the gardens and wanted to enjoy the warmth of the sun, much as I had done.
Before he arrived, I'd managed to snap the robin which I've often tried to photograph, as I've mentioned before. I love the way robins seem less frightened of our human presence than other birds. I've looked this one in the eye many times. When sorting out my old photo prints recently, I found a picture of a robin eating out of my hand in the grounds of Kenwood House on Hampstead Heath in London. I don't think I will ever get that close to our garden robins, but you never know.
