From Russia with…curling stones
“Just because we are in a wheelchair doesn’t mean we can’t play,” said a young woman to me this afternoon while I watched the international wheelchair curling championships at the Peak Sports village in Stirling.
We were in the coffee lounge after our Fit4Life class and the competition was in full swing.
Even to someone like myself who had never been closer to a curling stone than an ornamental doorstopper could appreciate the incredible skill exercised by this international gathering of wheelchair players from Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, USA, Slovenia, as well as England and Scotland.
