Final event of the year
Second day For me at Hill of Tarvit where the East Fife Members Centre had invited Toby Anstruther to talk about the changes happening at Balcaskie Estate.
Among the many topics he described was the move to Organic methods with a target of 2022 for the whole estate to be organic. Also the move to encourage the development of local businesses to use many of the redundant farm buildings. All in all it was an inspirational presentation pointing to improvements in biodiversity and rewilding of the countryside.
Someone asked about Brexit and it quickly became apparent that everyone attending the event were completely against Brexit. Many were quite angry, but inspired by the steps that some farmers were taking to diversify and create more business and work opportunities. This is a trend that is likely to gain pace.
The Blipfoto is of the sunlight shining along one of the Flemish Tapestries and the blue and green light is natural and reflected daylight, taken after everyone had departed.
The extra shows the Mansionhouse in closed mode with all blinds drawn and shutters closed.
One mild surprise for me was that I was asked to propose a vote of thanks just before the talk began. That is the way to make me pay attention.
