Adios Cadiz - Ola Jerez
All packed up quite quickly, tidied up this beautiful apartment, leapt down the 76 steps and down the little cobbled street of the Calle SAN Miguel to a little breakfast spot near Plaza SAN Juan de Dios - no need for our Vit C tablet here as freshest of fresh orange juice served for breakfast every morning.
There was a cruise ship in the port so place was buzzing with the people off it buying their obligatory cup of coffee in the Cafe’s round the port!
Our train to Jerez was at 1125 so it was a short walk here. Trains are not crowded so no free for all trying to get a seat (unlike our crap nationalised train service in the UK). Nice to arrive in the beautiful old tiled station in Jerez and wander the quiet streets to our hotel the Casa Grande. It was an oasis of cool and calm inside as it’s a former mansion house renovated into a lovely hotel with a fabulous roof terrace with great views over the rooftops of Jerez old town.
We had a wander around the family streets and took some shade in a little quiet plaza for some food. Temps were 32 much warmer than Cadiz.
It was siesta time and being Sunday quieter than normal with all shops closed and some restaurants too.
As we are creatures of habit we revisited a favourite restaurant from May, the Rigadon and the meatballs were fabulous sitting outside in the warmth. Making the most of it as home soon.......
