the redwing are here

There is a large Rowan tree in the garden and several smaller trees around us, each one developing at different stages over the weeks. This morning we spotted movement in the big tree and John confirmed the redwing have arrived but only to this tree. I was following a conversation between a woodsman and our native woodland group at a meeting last night. He thought the berries of for example a rowan will ripen in stages over a number of weeks. Watching these birds this morning I assume the other berries are not yet ready.

The extra shows a weird shot of a blackbird at about the same time. It’s months since using the tripod and fuji camera although both shots were taken on the compact at full zoom.
