WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

The Forbidden Corner

It has taken me ages to choose one photo to Blip today!
We took the girls to the most fantastical, magical, scary place today - 'The Forbidden Corner' in Leyburn.
I've been to a few kid's days out over the years but this by far beats any of them.

It's hard to describe this place and do it justice but I'll try. First there is a maze that is hard to find a way out of then there are wooded areas with really weird stuff round every corner. Then you enter the folly through a dragons mouth which does an almighty burp and walk out of it's bottom! A lot of the journey goes underground through a labyrinth of dark passages that lead to ever more weird surprises and scary shocks then up winding staircases to turrets and chambers with skeletons in all manner of attire.
Every where - inside and out - there are statues and gargoyles scripts carved in stone and strange objects behind heavy black doors.
There are whispers and groans in dark passages and ghoulish noises and water suddenly sourting out of mouths.
We were there for 2 1/2 hours but only on our exit did we realise there were parts we had missed.
At first I thought it was a bit pricey to go in but I soon realised it was worth every penny for the amount of work and imagination that has gone into creating this wonderful place.
If you are short of ideas for the October hols and Halloween you could not go far wrong with a day out here.
