Evacuee Day

History Day at school. Normally it’s a different theme for each year group but this year they did a whole school World War 2 day. They were “evacuated” from a specially built train platform in assembly, each class going to a different classroom for part of the day!

Katie particularly loved taking monkey to school for the first time. She didn’t let him from her arms the whole day.

She looked particularly beautiful as an evacuee- her outfit was a collection of special actually. J made the divine cardigan. A lovely friend sewed the skirt and donated it to Katie. A friend of Bs gave her the beret. A lady from church gifted me a basket of vintage ribbons and trims which provided the ribbons. Quite the collection of love! And a good representation of the “make do an mend” approach!
