Guinea Pigs

Dear O'H dear and Lovely Tea Jenny,

Mary Doll has taken it upon herself to experiment with vegan cooking for The Youngest Mini Princess. It is not unusual for her to give us something on a Friday to have for dinner that evening (after they have gone home).

It is very sweet of her to do this but it can be a bit hit or miss on account of the fact that she deviates from recipes but doesn’t taste as she cooks. There was an interesting noodle dish (where she got her measurements slightly mixed up) with a sauce made of reduced soy sauce. Unfortunately, she had also added salt and I’m pretty are our blood pressure doubled as we ate it. She also used a block of vegan cheese in a vegetable bake once. Which gave it the somewhat unappealing aroma of vomit.

But today, she made a sweet potato and bean casserole which was very nice although I was slightly amused that she bought chilli beans but decided they might be too hot and washed all the sauce off the beans before she added them!
