A Writer's Life

fuming...

I have a few problematic students in each classes. It's normal, and I deal with it rather well, I think. I'll use humour to defuse a situation and make students see just how silly it is, for instance, to ask half a point for a question to which they didn't write any answer.

But tonight I lost my cool... 2 of my students, in one class, have decided that I don't know what I'm talking about. They don't take the time to hear me out, they disrupt the class. It was like that before christmas, and it happened again tonight. Except that I lost patience, and basically told them that it was enough. I'm not proud of myself. Not because they didn't need to be reminded who's teaching them. That, they needed. But this is the type of things I prefer to do one to one. But it's also really unfair to the other students as I don't want them to feel like they can't ask questions.

So, since they say that music has a calming effect, while they are doing their exam, I'm wearing headphones and trying to relax. I'll deal with the ramifications tomorrow, talk with my supervisor, write an email to the students explaining that if they have issues, they can write to me, or call me, without disrupting the whole class. But right now, i'm pissed in a foul mood... not my usual, sunny, calm self and intend to use that 3 hours to just relax...
