Sweet Pepper Stars

These tiny wee flowers have a sweet peppery smell when walked upon and are the bane of a proud lawn owner. They attract butterflies and make a lawn twinkle.

For me they also remind me of a day, many years ago, when we were having a picnic in the Oamaru Gardens with family from Scotland - that is right, Maggie D and John D. Their one and only son, a little lad at the time, raced across a lawn twinkling with these wee cuties and myriad butterfly, calling to Maggie D "mummy, mummy, the butterflies are chasing me" (No embarrassment intended A)
