POSH

A word of uncertain origin!  That the word is an acronym from port out(ward), starboard home, said to be the preferred accommodation on ships traveling between England and India, seems to be without foundation.


I've always found traveling, that if you want a perspective of local life, then go shopping.    This is the mall in Merivale, the district next to St Albans where the family lives.    The district (and the mall) are distinctly POSH!
