Dropping levels

This photograph needs blipping in order to demonstrate just how far the water level of the Water of Leith near us has dropped in 24 hours, if you compare to yesterday. It's remarkable. The Gormley's head was just poking out of the water yesterday. Today, the whole torso is visible. Probably by tomorrow it will be below his buttocks.

None the less, when we got to the weir, there was still quite a weight of water coming over it, and we hung around for a few minutes seeing if any of the ducks accidentally went too close and got taken for an involuntary water slide.... Unfortunately they were too smart :-(

So I walked up to the weir and back - a week ahead of the schedule from last time, and a lot of the walk was done without the aid of a stick, whereas I was still using two sticks at this point last time (and that is tiring in and of itself of course and thus reduces the distance you can walk).

I had a fairly quiet afternoon, and then we entertained JH and AG for dinner, which was lots of fun. Great food produced by Mr A, especially a reprise of the plum icecream which he made for hazelh and Mr hazelh the other day. A little bit more to drink than on any other day since the operation. I'll be having a dry week... But I kept it well within bounds, for obvious reasons. For sure, a much later night, but (backblipping) no major problems seem to have arisen.

I followed Andy Murray's tennis success in Antwerp in the afternoon, and was moved to see his success with his metal hip. As someone who now has two prostheses, I'm a great believer that there are no obvious limits to what one can do. One just has to persist and work hard, and he certainly does that.
